The CIS and the SCO advocate for developing a unified approach to countering digital threats
Nurlan Seytimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), addressed the First SCO Plus Expert Dialogue on Security Issues in Samarkand.
He noted that the CIS and the SCO have verified and consistently synchronized their understanding of digital threats and approaches to neutralizing them, citing the joint Counter-Terrorism Forum and anti-terrorism exercises held in Minsk in September as an example.
N. Seytimov emphasized that such events indicate the formation of a unified security perimeter within the Eurasian space, capable of countering global digital challenges. He called for common legal standards in this area, including blocking extremist resources, tracking suspicious crypto transactions, and using artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, financial monitoring, border control, and criminology.
Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Nurlan Seytimov stressed that creating a reliable security perimeter is possible only by synchronizing both countries’ legal mechanisms.
