Sergio Gor explores the historical and cultural heritage of Bukhara
During his visit to Uzbekistan, Sergio Gor, U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, visited ancient Bukhara, one of Uzbekistan’s most important historical and cultural centers.
Responsible officials, led by Bukhara region’s Hokim Botir Zaripov, welcomed the high-ranking guest at Bukhara International Airport.

During the visit, Sergio Gor explored historical monuments that reflect the city’s centuries-old history, outstanding architectural traditions, and rich cultural heritage. He was deeply impressed by the Samanid Mausoleum, the Bolo Hovuz Mosque, the Ark Fortress, the Kalon Minaret, the Nadir Divan-begi Madrasah, and the Labi Hovuz Complex.

Visiting these monuments clearly demonstrated Bukhara’s special place in the history not only of Uzbekistan, but of the entire Central Asian civilization. For centuries, the city has remained a major center of science, education, commerce, and culture. Today, Bukhara remains a key center of cultural interaction between East and West.
Getting acquainted with Bukhara’s unique heritage became a symbolic step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan, based on mutual respect, cultural dialogue, and universal human values.
