Serbia is considering the possibility of concluding a free trade agreement with Uzbekistan
A meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Serbia.
Following the meeting, the Minister for International Economic Cooperation of the Republic of Serbia Nenad Popović shared his views on the prospects for bilateral economic cooperation.
According to the Minister, Serbia and Uzbekistan are considering concluding a free trade agreement.
“Our economies complement each other”, says N. Popović. “The presidents maintain high-level, trusting, and friendly relations. Our task is to bring economic cooperation to the same level”.
The Minister emphasized that Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Serbia opens new opportunities in this direction. There is significant potential in new technologies, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and robotics, as well as in trade and investment, agriculture, and the food and textile industries.
“I am convinced that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan and the agreements reached will give a powerful impetus to the development of economic cooperation”, the Minister concluded.
