SDG implementation discussed
The public monitoring results, which evaluated the current condition of libraries at general education schools, their fiction collections, and the environment created for students, were discussed. The Senate Committee on Science, Education and Healthcare carried out this study during Sustainable Development Goals Month in collaboration with the Yuksalish Movement.
Committee Chair Odiljon Mamatkarimov highlighted the importance of school libraries in improving education quality and promoting youth spiritual and intellectual growth, emphasizing the need to update them to meet modern standards.
Participants reviewed monitoring results for Goal 39 of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, the current State Program, and reform initiatives. They assessed conditions in school libraries, the status of book collections, and digital infrastructure.

Based on the discussion, recommendations were developed to enhance library activities.

The Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment, and Tourism held a roundtable “The role of parliaments in accelerating social development: new tasks and opportunities”.
The participants examined the substance of the resolution “Enhancing the role of parliaments in accelerating social development”, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on July 24, 2026, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.

The meeting highlighted the Parliament of Uzbekistan’s work to integrate the SDGs into national legislation and state programs, ensure parliamentary oversight of implementing established objectives, and address issues affecting the population. Particular attention was also paid to the participation of local Councils in implementing the SDGs in the regions, as well as the role of women and young people in parliamentary activities.
