President of Uzbekistan calls for expanding cooperation with ICESCO
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Salim AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the First International Islamic Civilization Forum.
The parties considered issues related to expanding the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and this authoritative institution within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The consistent development of practical cooperation with the international organization was noted with satisfaction.

An ICESCO Chair operates at the International Islamic Academy. This year, an office of the organization was opened in Tashkent. Following the latest meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee in February, seven elements of the country’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage were added to the ICESCO List.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the restoration, protection, and digitization of cultural monuments and manuscripts, the broad promotion of the country’s rich historical heritage through international media platforms, and the organization of joint events.

Following the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan awarded Salim AlMalik a high state award, the Order of “Dustlik”, for his personal contribution to the broad promotion of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
