President of Uzbekistan attends the opening of Uzbekistan – Korea Business Forum
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Han Seong-sook attended a joint business forum.
The forum brought together more than 300 representatives from government agencies and the business communities of both countries, including heads of leading financial institutions, major industrial enterprises, and trading companies.
The Korean business community was represented by Lotte Chemical, Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung C&T, CJ Group, Shinhan Financial Group, Hyundai Rotem, KIND, BOMI, Kia Corporation, Sampyo Group, Hansae Mobility, and other companies.
In his address, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that Korea is a time-tested friend and a special strategic partner of Uzbekistan, and that trade, economic, and investment ties are among the key areas of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea.
The successful operations and significant contributions of leading Korean companies to Uzbekistan’s economic development were highlighted.
Today, Uzbekistan is entering a new stage of industrial and technological development, creating broad opportunities to increase mutual trade, expand investment cooperation, and implement new joint projects.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed combining Uzbekistan’s resource base, Korea’s advanced technologies, and the investment capital of companies from both countries to create new drivers of economic growth.
The President outlined key areas for further economic partnership. These include industrial cooperation and the development of fully developed production chains, energy and the green economy, transportation and modern infrastructure, digitalization and artificial intelligence, semiconductors and microelectronics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, joint research, the introduction of advanced technologies, personnel training, and other areas.
Korean companies were invited to implement projects in copper processing, electrical equipment manufacturing, component localization for the automotive and electric vehicle industries, robotics and automation, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, hydropower, energy storage systems, modernization of energy networks, and the development of transportation and urban infrastructure.
To deepen industrial and technological cooperation, the President proposed establishing an Uzbek-Korean Industrial and Technological Alliance as a practical mechanism.
The Leader of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to continue creating favorable conditions for Korean businesses and to provide practical support for the implementation of joint projects.
