Pharmaceutical sector: India’s experience and emerging collaborative projects
As part of the working visit to India by Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, a meeting was held with the leadership and representatives of ERA University on the sidelines of the India – Uzbekistan Business Forum.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in medicine, medical education, and scientific research, including ways to improve the quality of specialist training and to implement joint projects. Representatives of ERA University proposed establishing a specialized clinic in Karakalpakstan for the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis. The parties confirmed their readiness to expand practical cooperation in medicine and medical education, implement promising joint projects, and develop a bilateral partnership.
Abdulla Azizov also participated in a roundtable discussion at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India. The event was held during the visit of an official delegation led by Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The roundtable was organized jointly with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The participants discussed Uzbekistan’s investment potential, the reforms underway in the country’s medical and pharmaceutical sectors, prospects for establishing high-tech, high-value-added production facilities, technology transfer, and the implementation of joint investment projects.
Indian entrepreneurs put forward proposals to establish joint ventures and to strengthen cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
At the meeting with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, the main focus was on expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, and developing industrial cooperation. The parties discussed prospects for joint production of medicines and medical devices, technology transfer, scientific research, the introduction of innovative developments, and the implementation of high-value-added projects.
