President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony marking the commissioning of new facilities and the launch of construction of new projects in New Tashkent.
New Tashkent, where construction began three years ago, is the largest urban development project in Uzbekistan’s history. The first phase of construction alone envisages the implementation of projects worth $50 billion, designed to incorporate modern technological solutions as part of efforts to create a safe and green city.
The city is planned to feature 2,000 hectares of green spaces and 500 hectares of parks. A total of 150 million square meters of residential and non-residential buildings will be constructed in accordance with green building standards.

To date, work worth $2 billion has been carried out in New Tashkent. Residential buildings, universities, a library and an amphitheater have been built. During today’s ceremony, seven facilities with a combined value of $1 billion were commissioned.
These include the first phase of the Sharq Bahori residential complex, road and infrastructure facilities, the Yangi Toshkent Substation No. 1, a trigeneration plant, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, Sohil Park, and a general education school with a capacity of 2,000 students.

The trigeneration plant, built with the participation of Turkish company MIMSAN at an investment cost of $73 million, will provide centralized heating and cooling to 100,000 households while simultaneously generating electricity. The project to construct a substation and high-voltage transmission lines, implemented jointly with Chinese company Haocheng Industry Group Limited, is valued at $95 million.

In addition, 18 kilometers of roads have been built, along with 13 kilometers of sewer networks and 4.5 kilometers of drinking water supply networks. Pedestrian and bicycle paths have been developed along a 10-kilometer stretch of waterfront in Sohil Park. Around 7,000 apartments have been built during the first phase of the Sharq Bahori residential complex.
During the ceremony, construction was launched on another ten major projects with a combined value of $2.5 billion, involving partners from China, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.

One of these projects is Deep Tech Park, an industrial zone specializing in the production of high-tech products and semiconductors. An investment of $320 million will be allocated to its development. The park is expected to accommodate projects worth a total of $1.7 billion in the future.
A project to collect waste and generate green electricity from it will be implemented with the participation of Finnish company MariMatic. In addition, photovoltaic systems with a combined capacity of 20 megawatts are planned for installation on the rooftops of apartment buildings.

To connect New Tashkent with the capital, a bridge, an overpass and a 10-kilometer road will be built between Temur Malik Street and the 4R12 highway. Another new project involves building an underground parking facility connected to metro stations.
The Metropolis business city, covering more than 818,000 square meters, will include offices, a hotel, residential buildings, and service facilities. Of this area, 500,000 square meters will be allocated to business infrastructure. The project is expected to create 1,500 jobs.

In addition, the Silk City, Mavj and Marjon residential complexes will be built, along with New Tashkent’s 120-bed central hospital.
The Head of State emphasized that these projects would contribute to establishing New Tashkent as a center for business, tourism and culture, and expressed gratitude to the builders, engineers, designers and foreign partners involved in developing the city.
