The 3rd International Gold Embroidery and Jewelry Festival will take place in Bukhara from May 15 to 17 this year.
As part of the festival, exhibitions of gold embroidery and jewelry art, along with other national handicrafts, performances by folklore ensembles, masterclasses, and a fashion show will take place.
An international scientific and practical conference on “Prospects for the development of traditional jewelry and gold embroidery art”, as well as a presentation of a book dedicated to the jewelry and gold embroidery art of Uzbekistan, are planned.
As part of the festival, an international symposium on “Bukhara Zandanachi: history, typology and issues of revival” will be held, during which this unique tradition will be comprehensively examined as an important part of Central Asia’s artistic culture. The symposium will consider written and archaeological sources, technological processes, ornamental traditions, museum collections, and issues of restoration and digital visualization.
In addition, the opening of “Music of Golden Threads”, a creative exhibition by gold embroidery master Bakhshillo Jumayev, will be held.
A competition among local and foreign artisans will also be held as part of the festival. An international jury will evaluate the participants’ works.
The festival will bring together more than 300 local artisans and over 120 foreign guests from 38 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and the Pacific region, including international media representatives.
The festival will conclude with an awards ceremony and a gala concert, during which the competition winners will receive special diplomas and cash prizes.
