Global Halal Nexus: MIHAS 2026 continues unlocking new trade horizons
The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), entered its third day on Friday, with organisers aiming to attract 50,000 business visitors.
This year’s edition features 2,000 booths, 1,700 exhibitors and 450 buyers from 58 countries.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officiated the Global Halal Summit (GHaS) on behalf of the Prime Minister of Malaysia at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
According to MATRADE officials, MIHAS had already attracted 30,000 visitors by the end of the second day, reflecting strong local and international interest.
MIHAS 2026 also saw the signing of key strategic agreements, including a Letter of Intent (LOI) between MATRADE and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
The collaboration establishes the Halal Development Officer (HDO) Programme under the Malaysia Halal Global Nexus (MyHGN) initiative. The programme will enable MATRADE officers stationed worldwide to guide global industries on Malaysia's Halal ecosystem, strengthen international recognition of Halal certification and promote Halal exports.
The strategic importance of the platform was underscored by the presence of senior government leaders from ministries and agencies involved in Malaysia’s Halal ecosystem.
Hosted by JAKIM, GHaS serves as Malaysia's flagship platform for global Halal diplomacy, governance and capacity building. It brings together government certification bodies, government agencies, Islamic scholars, policymakers and global industry leaders to build technical capacity, streamline international compliance and facilitate market access for Malaysian companies.
Since its inception in 2004, MIHAS has generated more than RM35 billion in export sales and attracted more than half a million business visitors from around the world.
