Further stages of the SAF and e-SAF production project in Uzbekistan discussed in China
Allied Biofuels held a working meeting in Ningbo, China, to discuss front-end engineering design (FEED) for a project to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) in Uzbekistan.
The meeting, held at the Sinopec office, was attended by representatives from Allied Biofuels, Sinopec Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Denmark’s Topsoe A/S, Sasol South Africa Limited, and U.S.-based Plug Power. The project is valued at $6.1 billion.
The participants agreed on the allocation of engineering tasks, technological interfaces, the scope of project documentation, the integration of individual production solutions, and the FEED-stage work program.
Under the agreements reached, Sinopec Engineering Group is responsible for carrying out FEED, system integration, and detailed engineering, and for preparing the project cost estimate on an open-book basis. The project is expected to proceed to the EPC stage.
Topsoe and Sasol are participating in the project as suppliers of key technologies for e-SAF production. In particular, the project plans to use Topsoe’s SynCOR™ technology in combination with Sasol’s Fischer-Tropsch technology.
Plug Power Europe SAS, for its part, will provide the project with GenEco PEM electrolyzer systems with a total capacity of up to 2.4 GW, along with basic engineering, technical documentation, and engineering support.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their plans to continue work on the project.
