Dedicated compatriots honored with high state awards ahead of Independence Day

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony to present high state awards to compatriots on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

The Head of State warmly congratulated those present on the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Thirty-five years is a short period by historical standards. However, it would be no exaggeration to say that, in terms of their scale, achievements, and results, the past years have been equivalent to an entire century”, the President noted.

As the President of Uzbekistan emphasized, our hardworking and noble people are the true authors of these transformations.

The true value of independence is evident in the productive work of our compatriots – farmers and dehkans who create prosperity and well-being in rural communities, teachers and mentors who educate and nurture the younger generation, doctors who save lives, scientists pursuing new ideas and discoveries, and industrialists and entrepreneurs establishing modern enterprises.

The President also highlighted the contributions of builders and architects who transform our cities and villages, representatives of culture, the arts, and sports, civil servants who work to ensure that the essence and tangible results of reforms reach every mahalla and every family, members of the older generation and mahalla activists who unite communities around noble goals, and military personnel and law enforcement officers who safeguard peace and stability in the country.

Over the past decade, Uzbekistan has attracted more than $160 billion in foreign investment, and the economy has grown more than 2.5-fold. This year, the country aims to increase its gross domestic product to more than $180 billion. A total of 5.7 million permanent jobs have been created across industry, services, and agriculture.

With participation from the state and the private sector, schools with capacity for 1.5 million students, preschools for 342,000 children, and hospitals with 62,000 beds have been built. 83,000 kilometers of public and local roads have been constructed and repaired. 8 million people have gained access to centralized drinking water for the first time, and water supply has been improved for another 11.5 million. Over the past ten years, 650,000 families have received new housing.

“The greatest achievement of the New Uzbekistan is the change in people’s lives, citizens’ confidence in their own abilities, and a society that feels involved in the country’s future”, the President noted.

In recognition of their significant contributions to these noble transformations, 558 dedicated compatriots were honored with high state awards on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of independence.

“I am well aware of the dedication and hard work each of you has demonstrated, your achievements, and your valuable contributions to the development of our country”, the President said.

Among the award recipients are Rustam Sultonov, who for many years contributed to the development of Khorezm region and is now a leader among the older generation, and labor veteran Abdusattor Qurbonov, who devoted his life to cultivating desert lands and developing agriculture in Surkhandarya region.

The award of the honorary title “Honored Worker of Industry” to Gulomjon Turonov, a longtime steelworker at the Bekabad Metallurgical Plant, was a significant recognition of the hard work of the entire metallurgy team.

The work of Ilhom Ziyovuddinov from Namangan, who has achieved outstanding results in cotton and grain production and established his own school of practice, was also recognized, along with the work of Jamila Khudoyberdieva from Bukhara, who consistently achieves high yields of silkworm cocoons, Esenbay Aytimuratov from Karakalpakstan, who is introducing advanced technologies in livestock farming and developing pedigree breeding, and Aslankul Karimqulov, an irrigation specialist from Samarkand who is helping reduce water losses and introduce energy-saving systems.

The President noted that the hard work and valor of everyone honored with a state award deserve special recognition.

The Head of State warmly congratulated compatriots who are receiving honorary titles, orders, and medals in their respective regions.

During the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented the awards to the recipients.
