Uzbekistan and the United States have elevated their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership

A delegation from the United States House of Representatives, including Congressmen Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronny Jackson, and Edward Case, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting with Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva, it was highlighted that strong political will from both countries’ leaders has enabled diverse cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States to grow steadily and actively, rooted in open dialogue and mutual trust. Consequently, their bilateral relationship has elevated to the status of a strategic partnership.

It was emphasized that inter-parliamentary dialogue plays a crucial role in enhancing relations between the two countries. It was also acknowledged that interaction between the interparliamentary group of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the US Congress, along with the activities of the Uzbekistan Caucus in the US Congress, has become an effective mechanism for systematically developing bilateral relations across political, economic, and humanitarian areas. These platforms facilitate discussions on current issues and the pursuit of solutions through parliamentary diplomacy.

The meeting covered ongoing efforts to deepen inter-parliamentary relations and improve contacts among relevant committees. The meeting focused on fostering closer cooperation between regions of Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as boosting collaborative efforts among local government authorities in both countries.

The sides examined the potential to expand trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Specifically, they discussed the progress of joint projects in industry and agriculture, as well as how to support mutually beneficial investment initiatives.

Proposals have been submitted regarding labor relations, gender equality, the exchange of experiences, and the enhancement of cooperation.
