Construction of China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway enters active phase
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Turgunbayev met with representatives of the China State Railway Group.
The parties discussed the stages of construction of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway. It was emphasized that the main international and investment agreements on the project have been concluded, the general contractor has been identified, financial issues have been resolved, and tunnels, bridges and other infrastructure facilities are already under construction. The need to complete the project on schedule was noted.
The railway is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region. Its total length is almost 480 kilometers, of which more than 304 kilometers pass through Kyrgyzstan.
The Presidents of the three countries officially launched construction of the railway on December 27, 2024.
