Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan share strategic regional interests
During his state visit to Uzbekistan, President Ilham Aliyev spoke to media representatives in Tashkent, offering a comprehensive overview of the current state and prospects of the relations between the two brotherly nations.
The Head of State’s assessments not only acknowledged Uzbekistan’s recent socio-economic progress but also served as a key political signal marking a new phase in relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
Shahin Seyidzade, Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made this statement in a commentary to AZERTAC News Agency.
He believes the visit once again showed that the relationship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has evolved beyond typical bilateral ties and now plays a crucial role in wider regional dynamics.
Shahin Seyidzade highlighted that the recent high-level meetings, including the third Supreme Interstate Council, signing ceremonies, and the inauguration of new economic and humanitarian projects, illustrate that our relations now extend beyond traditional diplomacy. These ties are rooted in political trust, economic complementarity, spiritual affinity, humanitarian efforts, and shared strategic regional interests. Today, our countries exemplify a model of cooperation in which trust enables tangible projects, political resolve translates into economic gains, and historical bonds evolve into a contemporary strategic partnership.
The next essential step is to consistently and effectively implement the reached agreements. The roadmap established during the visit, along with the goal of increasing trade turnover to $1 billion, developing interregional connections, and launching new joint projects, provides a solid foundation for this.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have strong potential to make notable progress in the near future in areas such as strengthening economic ties, broadening transportation collaboration, launching new investment initiatives, and enhancing cultural and humanitarian connections.
