At the invitation of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, paid a state visit to France from March 11 to 13. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, adopted a Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership. During the state visit, the following agreements were also signed:
– Intergovernmental Agreement on the Establishment of the Uzbekistan – France University;
– Intergovernmental Agreement on Readmission;
– Cooperation Program in Investment and Innovation, providing for the implementation of promising joint projects with leading French companies in Uzbekistan, totaling €6.5 billion;
– Protocol on Expanding the Teaching of the French Language;
– Protocol on the Establishment of Partnership between Tashkent and Paris, along with other bilateral documents.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest award of the French Republic.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, presented the prestigious award, established in 1802, to the President of Uzbekistan in a formal ceremony. The Order of the Legion of Honour is the highest distinction in France, recognizing exceptional achievements and contributions in various fields. The President of Uzbekistan was honored with the order for his significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and France and fostering friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries. Over more than two centuries, the order has been awarded to prominent figures in state affairs, politics, science, and culture, including Charles de Gaulle, Winston Churchill, Louis Pasteur, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Alexandre Dumas, Yuri Gagarin, Nelson Mandela, Franklin Roosevelt, Queen Elizabeth II, and Lee Kuan Yew.

As part of his state visit to France, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
The discussion focused on further developing productive cooperation with this prominent UN agency and practical aspects of preparing for and hosting the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which is set to take place in Samarkand this autumn.
It is worth noting that this year, Samarkand will host the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. This will be the first time in 40 years that the session will be held outside the organization’s headquarters in Paris, and it will coincide with UNESCO’s 80th anniversary.

As part of his state visit to France, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo. The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the Mayor on the successful hosting of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and expressed gratitude for naming one of the streets in Paris after Samarkand.
In response, Anne Hidalgo thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his support in ensuring public security during the Olympic events.
Following the meeting, an official ceremony was held to name a street in Paris after Samarkand.
