Uzbekistan strengthens economic cooperation on the sidelines of the KazanForum
Kazan hosted the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, one of the largest international platforms for discussing trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world.
The forum brought together representatives from 103 countries, underscoring its growing global status and significance in shaping new areas of Eurasian partnership.
Uzbekistan took an active part in the forum. The country’s delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev. The delegation included heads of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as the hokims of Bukhara, Navoi, and Jizzakh regions.
One of the forum’s key events was a meeting between Jamshid Khodjayev and Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for developing industrial cooperation, establishing joint production facilities, developing industrial infrastructure, and implementing new projects in Uzbekistan. Special attention was paid to the potential of the Navoi and Bukhara Industrial Development Complexes, which are viewed as promising platforms for expanding bilateral cooperation.
Uzbekistan’s national Made in Uzbekistan pavilion was set up at the forum venue as part of the Russia Halal Expo. The exhibition showcased the country’s broad export potential – from textiles and processed foods to pharmaceuticals and electrical engineering.
Speaking on the sidelines of the forum, Jamshid Khodjayev emphasized that Russia remains one of Uzbekistan’s key economic partners. According to him, cooperation between the two countries is steadily developing across industrial cooperation, production localization, transport and logistics connectivity, and the training of qualified personnel.
Following KazanForum, several agreements were signed, and the launch of new investment projects was announced.
