The President of Tajikistan visits the historical monuments of Bukhara
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, who is in Uzbekistan on a state visit, is visiting the historical monuments of Bukhara together with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Ancient Bukhara has long been renowned for its outstanding historical, architectural, and cultural values and has, for centuries, been one of the centers of science, Islamic theology, and spirituality. The city’s historical center, more than 2,500 years old, was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1993.

The distinguished guest, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, first visited the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband.

The complex is one of the great shrines of the Islamic world. It was established at the burial site of Bahauddin Naqshband, the founder of the Naqshbandiyya tariqa, and today includes a mausoleum, khanqah, mosques, a necropolis, and a museum dedicated to the history of Sufism. It is especially noted that the noble principle of Bahauddin Naqshband’s teaching – “Dil – ba yor-u, dast – ba kor” – calls for diligence and spiritual purity.

A visit to the Samanid Mausoleum followed this.

This monument is among the oldest structures in Central Asia and is made of baked brick. It was built at the end of the 9th century or the beginning of the 10th century by Ismail Samani, the founder and first ruler of the Samanid state, as a family burial vault.

Its architectural design reflects not only Islamic traditions but also pre-Islamic ones, including elements of Sogdian culture. It was observed that depending on the angle of sunlight, the patterns on the mausoleum appear in different shades, and the structure’s form, a cube with a dome, symbolically represents the unity of Earth and Sky.

Thanks to its nearly two-meter-thick walls and high-quality brick, this unique monument has been well preserved to this day.

During visits to the mausoleums, surahs from the Quran were recited. Prayers were offered for the repose of the departed, as well as for peace and well-being for our people.
