Tashkent hosts Uzbekistan – Hong Kong Business Forum
The Uzbekistan – Hong Kong Business Forum took place in Tashkent to strengthen Uzbekistan’s international trade ties. The event included a roundtable and B2B meetings during a visit by a delegation led by John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, elevating bilateral relations.
The event was attended by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Frederick Ma, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. They emphasized that this dialogue was a logical continuation of the fruitful visit by Uzbekistan entrepreneurs to Hong Kong on May 4-7 of this year.
The forum brought together more than 100 representatives of major businesses and investors from the two countries. The main focus was on increasing bilateral trade volumes. During the negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for Uzbek industrial and agricultural products to enter Southeast Asian markets via Hong Kong, as well as attracting foreign investment into Uzbekistan’s economy. The parties considered opportunities for cooperation in finance, logistics, high technologies, and digital services. It was noted that Hong Kong’s status as an international financial center and the large-scale economic reforms underway in Uzbekistan provide a solid foundation for development of the partnership.
