SPIEF 2026: Uzbekistan expands the horizons of economic cooperation
For Uzbekistan, participation in SPIEF 2026 was an important step in advancing national economic interests, strengthening business ties, and seeking new areas of cooperation amid the global economy’s transformation.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Uzbek delegation held a series of meetings with leaders of major companies, representatives of government agencies, and business leaders from various countries. The discussions focused on industrial cooperation, energy, transportation and logistics, digitalization of the economy, agriculture, and the introduction of innovative technologies.
Director of the publishing company Sandro Teti Editore and political analyst Sandro Teti commented on the results of the President of Uzbekistan’s working visit to Russia on June 4-5:
“I must say that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is extremely important. This clearly demonstrates that Uzbekistan is consistently pursuing a multi-vector foreign policy. Uzbekistan, a freer country that maintains friendly relations with all its neighbors, has strong ties with China, the European Union, Italy, and Russia. I should note that Uzbekistan has achieved great success in recent years. One vivid example is that the poverty rate has fallen to 5%. In my view, this is a clear and meaningful indicator. As for the forum, the meeting between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia is an important event. It is also significant that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is taking part in international geopolitical meetings. Uzbekistan is becoming increasingly integrated into the global economy and politics. And once again, the President of Uzbekistan has demonstrated this through his participation in the St. Petersburg forum”.
SPIEF 2026 underscored Uzbekistan’s growing role in the regional and global economy. Active participation in international forums, attracting investment, developing transport corridors, and deepening industrial cooperation are laying a solid foundation for the country’s continued sustainable development and the expansion of its economic presence in global markets.
