Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan hold a telephone conversation

On September 22, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The President of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, well-being, and continued success in his state activities.

The President of Uzbekistan conveyed his sincere greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In turn, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed the best wishes of the National Leader of the Turkmen People to the President of Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, the parties reviewed current issues related to the development of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Particular attention was paid to expanding trade and economic cooperation. The steady growth in bilateral trade and the implementation of cooperation projects in the energy, transportation, and other important sectors were noted with satisfaction.

The importance of ensuring the effective operation of the Shavat – Dashoguz Joint Trade Zone was emphasized.

Views were also exchanged on certain issues on the regional agenda in the context of preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, as well as for the CIS Summit in Turkmenistan.

Following the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the President and the fraternal people of Turkmenistan on the upcoming national holiday – Independence Day.
