Plans are in place to expand Fergana International Airport’s capabilities
During his visit to Fergana region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the development concept for Fergana International Airport.
The airport’s existing terminal has been in operation for more than thirty years. Its capacity, passenger convenience, and the potential for the development of aviation and non-aviation services no longer fully meet modern requirements.

In this regard, comprehensive development of the airport’s infrastructure is planned. The project aims to expand the geographic scope of flights and improve service quality, taking into account the region’s growing economic activity and increasing tourist flow.

The presentation addressed issues related to extending and widening the runway, modernizing aerodrome infrastructure, and constructing new passenger and cargo terminals.

The new passenger terminal, covering about 20,000 square meters, will be able to handle up to 1,200 passengers – twice the current capacity. Additional aircraft parking stands will also be created, increasing the number of aircraft accommodated to 10 units.

The new terminal will feature spacious waiting halls, modern service areas, convenient check-in and control systems, and separate facilities for serving high-ranking guests.
The Head of State emphasized that an airport is the “gateway” to any region and provided recommendations for organizing modern services and developing transportation and related infrastructure.

The importance of designing, constructing, and subsequently managing the new terminal in accordance with international standards, with the involvement of experienced foreign operators, was emphasized.
It was noted that the project’s implementation will strengthen transport connectivity in Fergana Valley, increase tourist flows, and enhance the region’s role as a logistics hub.

At this point, the President’s visit to Fergana region concluded. The Head of State returned to Tashkent.
