Fergana exports raspberries to Türkiye and Russia
Farmers in Vodil, an urban-type settlement in Fergana region, are actively cultivating raspberries.
High-quality berries are in demand not only in Uzbekistan but also in foreign markets.
Alpomish Khosiyatkhon farm, headed by Elyorbek Nishonov, grows raspberries on 14 hectares. Both the local variety and several high-yielding varieties from Italy are cultivated. Some of the products are sold on the domestic market, and the rest are exported to Türkiye and Russia.
The farm employs 24 permanent and over 200 seasonal workers. The introduction of water-saving technologies has reduced water and mineral fertilizer consumption. At the initiative of the entrepreneur, the Vodil raspberry 555 cooperative was established, which works with households in the Obod, Navruz, and Yuqori Vodil mahallas, as well as with more than 130 farms.
Last year, 500 tons of raspberries were exported. This year, the plan is to increase this figure to 2,000 tons.
