Current issues in archeology are under discussion
The National Center of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences hosted the Republican scientific-practical conference on “Problems of Uzbekistan’s archeology”.
Representatives of the scientific community, including historians, experts in archeology, and researchers, attended the event.
This event was organized to discuss current issues and scientific achievements in archeology and to familiarize the general public with discoveries in Uzbekistan’s archaeological science.
The results of archaeological research conducted on the territory of Uzbekistan in 2024, in particular, in Akhsikent, including issues of its museumification, as well as in the area of the Late Bronze Age settlement of Chust-Bibion and the Achchisoy micro-oasis, were discussed at the conference.
The participants were interested in pottery artifacts from Mizdakhkan dating back to the Middle Ages, new results of archaeological research at the Shahrukhiya Monument, and prospects for scientific research in the Qizilqum region.
The theoretical aspects of history were discussed at the conference. The participants also touched upon urgent issues related to the study of the history of the early and late Middle Ages, such as the symbols on the tombstones of Muslim shrines in Eurasia and the Caucasus and their study, the social stratification of early Medieval societies based on the analysis of Sogdian documents discovered at the archaeological complex of Mount Mug.
The conference featured lectures on archaeology and other historical disciplines. Special attention was drawn to reports on the analysis of trade routes passing through the Jizzakh oasis of ancient Ustrushan, the study of the ancient capital of Chacha, and the analysis of coins of the Fergana Valley with the title “Jabgu Turk-Khakan” and coins of Ali ibn Mamun, issued in the cities of Nisa and Farova.
Following the event, appropriate decisions were made based on the expressed opinions.
