Cooperation in environmental monitoring expands
Dushanbe hosted the Regional Seminar of Eurasian Parliaments on “Addressing climate change and sustainable development through parliamentary action”.
Anvar Tuychiyev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Ecology Issues, took part in the event as part of Uzbekistan’s delegation.
Representatives of the parliaments of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, and Türkiye, as well as international experts, scientists, and representatives of environmental organizations, focused on strengthening interparliamentary cooperation to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr. Tuychiyev delivered a report on ensuring environmental sustainability in the face of climate change, environmental protection, and strengthening parliamentary control.
The event addressed current issues related to climate change, water security, air pollution prevention, methane emission reduction, public health protection, and environmental sustainability.
Following the event, proposals and recommendations were put forward to improve national climate change legislation, establish permanent platforms for interparliamentary dialogue, and expand cooperation in environmental monitoring and scientific research.
