A large cotton cluster to be established

Hokim of Bukhara region Botir Zaripov received representatives of Lihua Group in Uzbekistan, one of China’s largest industrial companies. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, improving agricultural efficiency, and accelerating the implementation of investment projects.

Plans are underway to develop 20,000 hectares of desert land in Shafirkan district and 9,000 hectares in Romitan district. An agro-industrial cluster will be established in these areas, covering the entire value chain – from cotton cultivation to deep processing and the manufacture of finished textile products.

Chinese investors have established Jemchujina Romitan LLC, while the development of the Varakhsha desert area in Romitan district is continuing. At the first stage of the investment project, particular attention is being paid to developing infrastructure, bringing land into agricultural use, and introducing modern irrigation systems.

This year, the Chinese-bred Xin Lu Zao-57 cotton variety was planted in the area, and advanced agricultural technologies based on Xinjiang’s experience are being introduced in practice.

During the talks, the parties discussed tasks related to the timely and effective implementation of the project and identified specific measures to resolve existing organizational issues promptly.

The parties reached mutually beneficial agreements to expand cooperation, increase investment, and widely introduce modern technologies in Bukhara’s agricultural sector.
