The Fund for Support of Reforms in the Sphere of Public Education will allocate a one-time financial assistance in the amount of 15 billion soums to the Extrabudgetary Fund for the Promotion of the Study of Foreign Languages.
According to Norma.uz, this is provided for by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On additional measures to improve the study of foreign languages”, adopted on January 19.
The allocated money will be used to introduce effective teaching methods, programs and textbooks in preschool institutions, secondary schools, academic lyceums, higher education institutions and training centers. Literature, textbooks and teaching aids published abroad, international tests and licenses, copyrights for content for teaching foreign languages will be purchased. The funds will be spent on the development and implementation of information and communication technologies, software projects in promoting the study of foreign languages, in particular the creation of videos, games, films and other educational content for the formation of basic language skills. It is also planned to attract highly qualified specialists to the sphere, including local and foreign ones, based on civil law contracts and others.
Advanced training courses will be organized to develop the competencies of foreign language teachers in reading, writing and speaking with the involvement of qualified specialists.
