Uzbekistan’s taxi sector generated 7.2 trillion UZS in 8 months

Data from the Tax Committee indicates a notable increase in growth and digitalization within the country’s taxi market from January to August 2026.

Over eight months, 242 taxi aggregators facilitated 329 million passenger rides.

The total turnover reached 7.2 trillion UZS, with an average fare of 21,785.5 UZS. Cash payments represented 63.1% (4.5 trillion UZS), while non-cash payments accounted for 36.9% (2.6 trillion UZS). In comparison, non-cash payments were 29.8% in 2023, and the share of card and app transactions continues to grow this year.

The aggregators contributed 149.2 billion UZS in taxes, including 46.8 billion UZS in VAT. Currently, 481,100 self-employed drivers operate in this sector.

Over 8 months, driver income distribution was as follows: 7,900 drivers earned more than 100 million UZS; 31,500 earned between 50 and 100 million UZS; 124,400 earned from 10 to 50 million UZS; 59,900 earned between 5 and 10 million UZS; 123,600 earned from 1 to 5 million UZS; and 133,700 drivers earned up to 1 million UZS.

Chevrolet Cobalt (27%), Nexia (19.3%), and Lacetti (16.1%) remain the most popular models among both European and local brands. At the same time, the proportion of electric vehicles grew from 1.9% last year to 2.5%.

Among the vehicles on the road, 37.1% have operated for 3 to 5 years, whereas 29.2% have been in use for more than 10 years.
