A delegation from the Italian Parliament visits Samarkand
A delegation led by Fabrizio Benzoni, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament and head of the interparliamentary cooperation group “Italy – Uzbekistan”, visited Samarkand.
The guests became familiar with the city’s landmarks, such as the Amir Temur Mausoleum, Registan Square, and the Shah-i-Zinda complex.
“In recent years, the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Italy has continued to strengthen”, says Fabrizio Benzoni. “This cooperation is developing thanks to mutual trust and friendly relations between the heads of the two states. In Tashkent, at the meeting of the ‘Italy – Uzbekistan’ Friendship Group, we also reached agreements to intensify interparliamentary dialogue, develop trade, economic, and investment cooperation, implement joint projects in artificial intelligence, expand exchanges in science and education, and strengthen cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and tourism. Our Uzbek partners invited us to take part in the 12th Global Forum of Young Parliamentarians, which is planned to be held this year in Samarkand, and we gladly accepted this invitation”.
Representatives of the Italian Parliament noted that the modern image of ancient Samarkand is increasingly attractive and that its tourism sector is developing rapidly.
