Uzbekistan and ICAO enhance collaboration
Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, met with Nicolas Rallo, Director of the European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The parties discussed ICAO’s role in developing international civil aviation, the organization’s activities, and the current state and prospects of the partnership with Uzbekistan.
It was noted that the ICAO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, coordinates the interaction among 193 states in civil aviation and develops international aviation standards and recommended practices.
In recent years, Uzbekistan’s aviation industry has been among the most dynamic in Central Asia. At the same time, cooperation between ICAO and the country’s government is steadily strengthening. As part of this cooperation, measures are underway to modernize airport infrastructure and introduce advanced technologies and innovative solutions.
Special attention was given to the role of civil aviation in tourism development. Expanding international air routes, creating favorable conditions for flights, and improving airport service quality directly affect Uzbekistan’s tourist attractiveness.
Increasing the number of international flights makes Uzbekistan more accessible to foreign tourists. This creates additional opportunities to explore new tourist markets, increase the flow of foreign visitors, and promote the country’s tourism potential internationally.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working together to develop tourism, increase international tourist flows, and strengthen cooperation between the aviation and tourism sectors.
