Temporary stay period in Russia for professional drivers from Uzbekistan extended to 180 days
This was reported by the Government Commission’s press service. It noted that the Government of the Russian Federation has decided to extend the period of temporary stay in the country to 180 days for professional drivers engaged in international road transportation. The new regulation will take effect on June 30, 2026. Previously, this period for this category of drivers was 90 days.
Doubling the permitted stay period will enable more efficient logistics, ensure timely delivery of goods, and reduce excessive administrative burdens.
The decision is of great importance to Uzbek exporters and carriers, as road transport remains one of the key methods for delivering products to foreign markets.

When exporting fruit and vegetable products, foodstuffs, construction materials, and other goods, allowing drivers to remain in the country longer ensures continuity of transportation.
It should be noted that this issue was raised in the context of an open dialogue that included the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjayev.

During the meeting, representatives of transport and logistics companies, as well as exporters and importers, raised practical issues arising in their operations in the Russian Federation, including those related to the duration of temporary stays. It was reported that following the discussions, all proposals and appeals were reviewed at the level of the two countries’ governments, with the participation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.

Under the new procedure, citizens of CIS countries and Georgia who enter the Russian Federation under a visa-free regime and work as professional drivers in international road transport will be allowed to stay in the country for up to 180 days in total within one calendar year.
At the same time, such foreign citizens are required, in accordance with the established procedure, to submit the relevant application for entry into the Russian Federation and for temporary stay or residence on its territory.
