Shakhriyor Mahkamov wins gold at the Asian Games

At the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan, Uzbekistan’s delegation has brought its total medal count to 34, including 8 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Uzbekistan has thus moved up to 4th place in the overall standings.

Uzbekistan’s canoe sprint athletes won three medals at the prestigious continental sporting event in Aichi and Nagoya.

In the men’s K1 500m event, Shakhriyor Mahkamov posted the best time to become the Asian Games champion. In the women’s event over the same distance, Arina Tanatmisheva finished second to win the silver medal.

In addition, Vladlen Denisov and Nilufar Zokirova finished second in the mixed C2 500m canoe event, securing another silver medal for Uzbekistan.
