Nuclear and environmental safety discussed
A meeting took place at the Uzatom Agency with a delegation led by Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mansur Oshurbayev. The conversation centered on nuclear, radiation, and environmental safety.
The parties examined the technical and environmental details of the nuclear power plant construction project in Uzbekistan. They received information about the preparatory activities, safety protocols, and the environmental monitoring system.

Azim Ahmedkhadjayev, Director of the Uzatom Agency, highlighted that safety remains the top priority in advancing the nuclear energy program. The process involves gradually aligning national standards with international benchmarks, alongside the ongoing development of a comprehensive system for nuclear, radiation, and environmental protection.
The Kazakh side emphasized that the responsible development of nuclear energy in the region, along with sharing environmental expertise and strengthening partnerships, benefits the entire population of Central Asia.
The parties discussed the technical and environmental requirements related to building and operating the nuclear power plant.

Special focus was given to training qualified personnel for the sector. A concept was introduced for a specialized center that integrates educational programs, practical training, academic exchanges, and industry expertise.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further collaboration in the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to create a roadmap and establish regular expert-level discussions.
