Khayriddin Usmonzoda: “Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is a key factor in regional stability”
A scientific-practical conference on “Uzbekistan - Tajikistan: New prospects for alliance and regional cooperation” was held at the International Institute for Central Asia.
Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayriddin Usmonzoda delivered a report at the event. He stressed that thanks to the mutual trust and open dialogue established by the leaders of the two countries, relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have reached a new level.
According to the expert, under current conditions, strengthening cooperation among Central Asian states is of particular importance. In this context, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is a key factor in regional stability.
Mr. Usmonzoda noted that the agreement on the junction point of the state borders of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan helped resolve long-standing problems and demonstrated the region’s countries’ ability to resolve existing issues independently.
The report also highlighted the potential for expanding economic cooperation. Special attention is paid to implementing joint projects in transport and logistics, the green economy, digital transformation, and education.
In addition, it was noted that the technological and industrial potential of Uzbekistan, combined with Tajikistan’s energy capabilities, creates conditions for sustainable economic growth in both countries.
The expert focused on issues of transport-logistics cooperation, particularly on a project aimed at using joint multimodal transport corridors. The initiative promotes the expansion of opportunities for delivering goods to the Chinese market via Dushanbe and Tashkent.
In conclusion, the high importance of friendship and good-neighborly ties between the Tajik and Uzbek peoples was emphasized, and confidence was expressed in the development and strengthening of cooperation between the states.
