“Great Silk Road” complex – a modern platform for cultural exchange
Urban development, infrastructure upgrades, and the creation of comfortable living conditions for residents are key priorities of government policy. One of the most important projects in this area is the New Tashkent initiative.

Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments, and Tourism Odiljon Mamatkarimov shared his opinion on this issue.
– The “Great Silk Road” project presented to the Head of State is of strategic importance.
The first stage of the construction of New Tashkent involves work on 6,000 hectares. Upon completion of this stage, modern infrastructure will be built to serve 600,000 residents. When the project is fully implemented, New Tashkent will become a modern metropolis with a population of 2 million people.
The “Great Silk Road” complex, to be built on a 32-hectare site in New Tashkent, will include residential and commercial facilities, hotels, cultural and educational centers, and other modern infrastructure.
According to the concept, the complex will feature thematic quarters dedicated to different civilizations of the Great Silk Road. Each mahalla will represent a specific country along the route. This will not only revive historical heritage but also establish a modern platform for cultural exchange.
As part of the project, special focus is placed on renovating several museums to promote our country’s rich historical heritage and share our ancestors’ great achievements in science, culture, and architecture with the younger generation. Specifically, plans include establishing a museum within the reconstructed Imam Moturidi complex. There are also proposals to enrich the content of Bahauddin Naqshband’s scientific and innovation museum and to renovate the State Museum of the Temurids History using modern design solutions.
These initiatives support the in-depth study of historical heritage and enhance our country’s tourism potential.
