Cooperation in social protection reaches a new level
The Director of the National Agency for Social Protection met with the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar.
Information was provided on the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s social protection system. Special attention was paid to the activities of the National Agency for Social Protection, the development of the “Inson” network of social service centers, the introduction of the institute of social workers at the mahalla level, the expansion of the range of social services, as well as the digital transformation of the industry.
The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation with the European Union within the framework of the SOCIEUX+, TAIEX, Twinning and Erasmus+ programs. The development of the social services and social housing system, the creation of an inclusive environment for people with disabilities, the improvement of rehabilitation services and assistive technologies, the digitalization of the social protection system using artificial intelligence technologies, support for socially vulnerable segments of the population and increasing the professional potential of industry specialists were identified as priorities.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s social protection system and confirmed the European Union’s readiness to expand cooperation. He announced the beginning of preparations for the new European Union program cycle for 2028-2034 and noted that the Agency’s proposals will be taken into account when forming future cooperation programs.
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in social protection, implement joint projects and consistently develop a long-term strategic partnership.
