Ceremony held in honor of Javokhir Sindarov
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony to honor chess grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov, winner of the International Chess Federation’s Candidates Tournament.
By winning the Candidates Tournament, Javokhir Sindarov achieved a truly outstanding and historic result, the first in Uzbek chess history.

In matches against the world’s strongest grandmasters, he demonstrated the highest level of skill, showing determination, strong will, and intellectual superiority in every game. His achievement of scoring 10 points in 14 games without a single defeat, setting records for both points scored and wins, was truly exceptional in the world of chess.
Addressing the ceremony, the President once again sincerely congratulated Javokhir Sindarov on this historic victory, emphasizing that it is a victory for the entire nation and for all of New Uzbekistan.

“Of course, no achievement comes on its own. Behind it lie years of tireless work, experience gained from an early age, strong will, iron discipline, and, of course, the guidance of mentors and coaches, as well as the prayers of his parents and grandparents. Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again express my sincere gratitude to your grandparents, parents, teachers, and coaches who raised and nurtured such a worthy son of the Uzbek people”, said the Head of State.
As was noted, during the tournament, Javokhir Sindarov clearly demonstrated over the chessboard the qualities inherent in our people, strong will, self-confidence, depth of thought, and composure. It was particularly emphasized that he demonstrated composure and courage against super-grandmasters from India, the United States, China, the Netherlands, Germany, and Russia.

The President stressed that this outstanding success was the practical result of the consistent attention and care devoted to the development of sports, including chess, in the country. It was noted that the emergence of such a victorious, courageous, and steadfast young generation in New Uzbekistan fills us all with deep pride.
It was noted that today, two of the top five players in the FIDE rankings are representatives of Uzbekistan. This clearly demonstrates the growing potential and international prestige of the national chess school, and also serves as a powerful incentive for thousands of talented young men and women who are passionate about this sport.

The ceremony also addressed the new frontiers facing Javokhir Sindarov. Confidence was expressed that he will perform with dignity in the decisive match for the world chess crown and once again demonstrate to the whole world the potential and glory of the Uzbek chess school. It was also noted that at the 46th World Chess Olympiad, to be held this September in Samarkand, our nation expects brilliant victories from him and the entire team.
During the event, a Presidential decree was read out awarding Javokhir Sindarov the “Mehnat Shuhrati” Order in recognition of his significant contribution to the promotion of chess in the country, particularly among young people, fostering a sense of national pride, love, and devotion to the Motherland in the younger generation, as well as his record-breaking performance and early victory at the FIDE Candidates Tournament held in Cyprus.

The Head of State solemnly presented the chess player with this high award.
The grandmaster expressed deep gratitude to the President for the constant attention given to youth and the development of sports, for the broad opportunities being created, and for the high trust and recognition shown to him.
