The outstanding result achieved by Uzbekistan’s U-17 football team at the Asian Cup and how our young players overcame their opponents in the final match, even after being reduced to nine men, clearly demonstrated that Uzbek football is reaching a new level.
In his congratulatory message to the young athletes, the President noted that these determined and goal-oriented players completed the entire tournament without a single defeat. They courageously defended the honor of our homeland and achieved a record-breaking result, undoubtedly inscribing a new golden page into the history of national football.
Representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, the broader community, journalists, the champions’ parents, and fans gathered at Tashkent Islam Karimov International Airport to welcome our triumphant heroes. News of this victory spread throughout the country, becoming the main topic of conversation.
Undoubtedly, the recognition of Nematulloh Rustamjonov, who consistently displayed outstanding performance throughout the championship, as the tournament’s best goalkeeper, Asilbek Aliyev, distinguished as the top scorer with five goals, and Sadriddin Khasanov as the best player of the Asian Cup filled our hearts with immense pride.
At a festive ceremony marked by celebratory spirit, Prime Minister A. Aripov delivered a congratulatory message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the young footballers.
The Head of the Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, O. Abdurakhmanov, announced the awarding of the honorary title “Honored Sports Mentor of the Republic of Uzbekistan” as well as medals “Builder of the Future” and “Glory” to the athletes, their coach, and sports commentators who have tirelessly contributed to popularizing football.
The coach and players of Uzbekistan’s U-17 national team were honored with gifts from the President – keys to new cars – and prestigious state awards.
The festive ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A. Ikramov, the First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, O. Umarov, the President of the Uzbekistan Football Association, B. Kurbanov, the Director of the Youth Affairs Agency, A. Sadullayev, the Hokim of Tashkent, Sh. Umurzakov and other officials.
