Zoyir Mirzayev congratulates war veterans

On the occasion of May 9, the Day of Remembrance and Honor, the Hokim of Tashkent region, Zoyir Mirzayev, met with the participants of the Second World War. Currently, 26 war and home front participants live in the region.

War veteran Rakhimjon-ota Rajapov, a “Fayzobod” mahalla resident in Yangiyul, turned 99 this year. The head of the region visited the veteran’s house.

Mr. Mirzayev read the President’s greetings to the veteran. Then, according to the decree of the Head of state, the veteran was awarded a one-time cash bonus of 18 million UZS and holiday gifts from the Regional Hokimiyat.

Mr. Mirzayev, and other officials, also visited World War II veteran Nodir-ota Mansurov, who lives in “Qovunchi” mahalla of Yangiyul district.

During the conversation, the veteran spoke about his life path and the difficulties he had to overcome and called on everyone to appreciate and protect today’s bright and happy days. Nodir-ota was presented with holiday gifts and a cash prize.

According to information, in 1941-1945, 121,969 people went to the front from Tashkent region, 22,617 died in battle, and 19,367 went missing. In the autumn of 1942, residents of Tashkent region sent 52 wagons of food products to the front. More than 220 million UZS were transferred from the personal savings of residents of Akkurgan and Yangiyul districts to the account of a special fund created to ensure victory at the front. Local families sheltered 3,500 homeless people and 1,700 children evacuated from war zones.
