First Lady of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Zamin Foundation, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, met with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Ziroat Mirziyoyeva expressed her gratitude to the head of the WHO for the organization’s significant contribution to the development of medicine and healthcare worldwide, as well as for its support in expanding the global platform to ensure access to anti-cancer drugs for children in Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed their readiness to further intensify cooperation, particularly in the areas of early detection of childhood cancer, the introduction of modern diagnostic and treatment methods, the training and retraining of specialists in oncology and hematology, as well as expanding opportunities for providing rehabilitation and psychosocial support to children and their families.

The WHO Director-General highly praised Uzbekistan’s efforts in the healthcare sector and the work of the Zamin Foundation, which is implementing important social and environmental projects.
