Zaynab Dayibekova, a member of the Uzbekistan national saber fencing team, won a bronze medal at the World Fencing Cup in Peru.

She beat the athletes from Bulgaria, Italy, India, and Japan, but in the semifinals, she lost to two-time world champion Sugar Battai from Hungary and took third place.

Before that, Uzbekistan’s fencers had not reached the podium at the World Championships among adults.
