The Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has developed a master plan for tourism development in Boykungir village of Bakhmal region.
The project is based on the German cluster development approach.
The master plan provides for the connection of the mountainous regions of Bakhmal and Zaamin districts and their development as a single tourist ring. The document provides a comprehensive assessment of the region’s natural, recreational, and economic potential and is intended to support tourism development. Wellness, sports, mountain, eco-, and agrotourism are considered priority areas for the region’s growth.
The master plan focuses on reducing seasonality, minimizing environmental impacts, and maintaining a steady year-round flow of tourists.
Within the framework of four pilot projects, it is planned to create a sanatorium specializing in the treatment of respiratory diseases, a resort and recreation hotel, a sports complex, and a hotel for athletes, as well as an entertainment area that will include a cable car, a zipline, attractions, observation towers, retail outlets, a food court, and restaurants.
It is planned to allocate $7.4 million, attract almost $40 million, put 19 hectares up for auction, and create more than 300 permanent jobs.
The project’s implementation will ensure a stable flow of tourists during the autumn-winter season, and during the spring-summer months, tourist numbers will increase 7-10 times.
The master plan will support the integration of the mountainous regions of Zaamin and Bakhmal districts, elevating the region’s tourism potential.
