Youth, women and children’s issues will be under constant attention
13:29 / 2023-05-10

On May 8, the President of Uzbekistan chaired a meeting with the heads of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, political parties, judicial and executive authorities, and representatives of the public. The results of the referendum on the adoption of the renewed Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held on April 30 this year, were discussed.

Following the meeting, Senator Malika Qodirkhonova shared her expressions:

– The President emphasized that the most vulnerable categories of the population are children, women, and youth, and the consolidation of this as a fundamental norm of the Constitution raises the issue to an even higher level. The Basic Law provides for the protection of the rights of youth by the State, increasing the socio-political activity of women, ensuring their rights and freedoms, and guaranteeing equal participation of women and men in government. Now we need to pay more attention to campaigns.

Communicating more with the population and holding parliamentary meetings in the regions is necessary. Senators need to identify the problem in their direction. For example, someone studies the issue from an international perspective, someone from a budgeting perspective. And we should identify and solve women’s problems together – this will give good results in further work.
