Tashkent hosted an event dedicated to analyzing the results achieved within the framework of the Modeling Youth and Child-Friendly Local Governance Initiative.
The participants of the events noted that in five regions of Uzbekistan, young people and children are doing important work together in various areas related to information technology and other modern professions.
The innovative initiative, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan and supported by UNICEF, was implemented in collaboration with the Nationwide “Yuksalish” Movement and the Youth Agency in Fergana, Navoi, Surkhandarya, Khorezm regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

It was noted that during 2022-2023, local governments in five cities received technical support from national and international experts in planning results-oriented programs that meet the needs of children and youth, especially the most vulnerable groups. Youth advisory councils were created in cities and facilitated local government consultations with more than 10 thousand children and youth representatives through online platforms and face-to-face meetings.
Fergana, Navoi, Surkhandarya, Khorezm regions, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan were issued corresponding certificates as finalists of the Modeling Youth and Child-Friendly Local Governance Initiative. This practice, knowledge, and experience will be used to further strengthen local governance and ensure the rights of children and young people in a broader sense.
In the future, since more than 55 percent of the population of Uzbekistan is young people, special attention will be paid to the regular improvement of this management system.
