Youth Festival in Samarkand

A youth festival under a motto “Love you, you are dear to me, my native Uzbekistan!” has taken place in Samarkand.Schoolchildren and students took part in the event that was organized by the hokimiyat (administration) of Samarkand Region, the regional council of the Kamolot Youth Social Movement and the commission for minors’ issues under the regional hokimiyat as part of the resolution of our country’s President on additional measures dedicated to streamlining the youth policy in the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed 6 February earlier this year.
The festival program also included an academic and applied conference entitled “The place and role of leaders of primary organizations of the Kamolot Youth Social Movement”. At this forum, the participants – leaders of basic units of the social movement and the active youths – discussed principal aspects the government youth policy spearheaded under the leadership of our country’s President and the tasks to be addressed by Kamolot organizations.
“Currently, more than 1 thousand and 700 primary organizations of the movement operate in the region,” informs Jasur Rahmonov, deputy chairman of the regional council of the Kamolot Youth Social Movement. “Necessary measures are taken to uplift the effectiveness of their efforts. Works undertaken on this front have been analyzed at the conference and prospective objectives been defined.”
Quite interesting were the excursions of pupils of mercy homes (orphanages) and specialized boarding schools of the city of Samarkand along the tour attractions of the town and travels to museums, education institutions, sporting facilities as well as major industrial enterprises.
After, events of the festival took place in the Sogdiana Park of Leisure in the city. Here, an exhibition of works of craftspeople and creative youths under a slogan “My Present to Independence” was organized on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the independence of the Motherland. National sports games, chess and checkers competitions, contests in Muai-Thai, ping pong, and demonstrative performances of masters of Uzbek Jang San’ati (Uzbek Martial Art), as well as the display of special machinery for motor rally were part of the occasion.
Those young athletes who proved active in the events got awarded with honorable letters of commendation and memorable gifts.
The festival events ended with a gala concert in the new amphitheater built in the park of leisure.
