The Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis organized a roundtable discussion devoted to increasing scientific potential of higher education institutions, expanding participation of youth in scientific and innovative development of education institutions.

The Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Sport of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis organized a roundtable discussion devoted to increasing scientific potential of higher education institutions, expanding participation of youth in scientific and innovative development of education institutions.

There are 91 higher education institutions in the country, including 11 prestigious universities of foreign countries. More than 337 thousand students are studying there. However, the need for highly qualified specialists and the issue of increasing scientific potential remain relevant for higher education institutions.

2643 out of 27,288 professors and teachers of higher education institutions of the country and their branches have a doctoral degree, 8280 have a candidate of sciences.

In 2015-2017, 737 candidates were accepted into the system of further education after receiving higher education, 16.8 percent of them defended their dissertations in a timely manner, 32.2 percent after deadlines, and 50.9 percent did not defend dissertations. There are problems in organization of innovative funds, timely and efficient use of funds, commercialization of scientific-innovative developments in higher education institutions.

Deputies, representatives of the sphere noted the need for development of the material and technical base of higher education institutions, equipping scientific labs with modern equipment, providing literature for the new generation, training specialists with higher education and conducting scientific research in collaboration with leading world universities.
