The Qoraqalpoghiston Republican stage of the Nihol award contest for young talents has taken place in Nukus.

This contest has been held since the year 2000 at the initiative of the country’s First President for the purpose of identifying and encouraging young artistic talents.

In this contest, young men and girls aged between 17 and 30 display their ability in such areas as music, national songs, dance and opera.

This year, 47 young men and girls selected in the lower stages of the contest participated in its Qoraqalpoghiston Republican stage. Every participant’s professional readiness, artistic performance, repertoire and harmony between words and music were evaluated. And special attention was paid to their social activeness and moral and behavioural qualities.

In various areas, 10 winners made it through to the country stage of the contest.
