A round-table meeting has taken place in Karshi on the subject of “Young people’s active participation in electoral processes is an important factor of democratization”.

The event was held by the Qashqadaryo Regional council of the Kamolot public youth movement jointly with Qashqadaryo district electoral commission No 13 as part of the “My vote for the Motherland’s future” campaign.

The event was attended by members of the electoral commission, active members of Kamolot and young people who are to vote for the first time, as well as journalists.

“The number of voters in the region is 1 million 984 thousand, and 55356 of them are young people who are going to vote for the first time. At seminars, meetings and round-table conversations directed towards raising young people’s legal culture, detailed information is provided about the national electoral legislation, the law `On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan’, voters’ rights and liberties and resolutions of the Central Electoral Commission on electoral processes,” says the chairman of Qashqadaryo district electoral commission No 13, S.Kurbanov.

A student of the Hushvaqt agro-business vocational college of Karshi District, Umida Tursunova, will be taking part in voting for the first time.

“On 4 December, I will exercise my constitutional right and vote in elections for the first time. At meetings held at our college with representatives of the legislature, I increased my knowledge about elections and rights and about the entire legislation,” says Umida Tursunova.

During the event, answers were given to questions of interest to young people.
