Within the framework of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (UNESCO), Tashkent hosted the International Week of Science “Chemistry for Sustainable Development”. The event also included a competition of young chemists for students of Uzbekistan secondary schools.

The competition, organized by Uzkimyosanoat JSC, Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute and a branch of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia in Tashkent, was attended by about a hundred students of 9, 10 and 11 grades from schools from all over the country. The competition was held on the basis of a unified scientific and methodological approach based on the principles of fairness, openness and transparency.

The winners were awarded laptops, tablets and smartphones.
