Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India took part in the opening ceremony of the Young Chef Olympiad in Delhi.
At the forum, which is held by the International Hospitality Council headquartered in London and the International Institute of Hotel Management in Delhi, representatives from 60 countries such as Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Jordan, Italy, UAE, Azerbaijan, France and others will demonstrate their skills.
Director of the Delhi branch of the International Institute of Hotel Management Abdullah Ahmed, noting the importance of this Olympiad in training professional young chefs, drew particular attention to the fact that organizational issues related to the international competition were also considered at events within the framework of the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand in October 2023.
From January 30 to February 4, young representatives of the culinary arts will demonstrate their skills in the cities of Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and the state of Goa. In Group “F” in Goa, Uzbekistan representatives will compete with young chefs from England, Seychelles, Singapore, Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Uganda, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh.
“Masters of their craft from different continents came to participate in the Olympiad, and the jury included famous chefs and specialists”, says a representative of the Uzbekistan Chefs Association, Akhmadjon Khamdamov. “We have carried out thorough preparatory work for this international event in cooperation with the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and other organizations. This will help demonstrate not only the features of national Uzbek cuisine, but also the high level of young chefs of our country”.
The final stage of the Olympiad will take place in Kolkata.
Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, including the possibilities of culinary tourism, will be widely demonstrated as part of the competition for young chefs.
